Parent Group (PTO/PTA)

Welcome to the Sherman Steering Committee!

The Sherman Steering Committee (SSC) is a 501-3 non-profit organization that functions like a PTO (parent-teacher organization).  Our goal is to support the students and staff of Sherman Elementary.  Throughout the school year, we raise money used to fund school programs such as field trips, teacher/staff grants, staff appreciation, Spooktacular, end of year carnival, and much more.

The SSC needs both financial and volunteer time to bring new ideas to life and to assist with special events we sponsor throughout the school year.  To achieve our goal, we host fundraising events throughout the year.  Our main event is a two week Read-a-Thon in March, although we host smaller fundraising opportunities as well.  Our annual fundraising goal is $20,000, which will be used to fund school programs during the 2024-25 academic year.

The SSC is made up of parents, caregivers and staff members who are passionate about making your student's experience at Sherman Elementary the best it can be. However, we cannot do this alone! We meet the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30-6:30pm in the library. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to join!
