Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support (PBIS)

We use the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) framework at Sherman Elementary. This is a building-wide approach that involves teaching behavior expectations throughout all areas of our school (classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, playground, etc.). This approach has been used in over 10,000 schools nationwide with proven success. This model focuses on teaching, reinforcing, and recognizing appropriate student behavior. Every person in the school is aware of these expectations and works to ensure students are consistently getting the same message. We also provide support to students who are struggling with their behaviors. These supports are intended to help the students learn and demonstrate appropriate behaviors at school.
When students follow Sherman's expectations, their academic success can be at its best. Teachers can teach in an environment conducive to learning and students are able to learn in an environment that is comfortable and safe.
Students that follow expectations will be recognized with:
* Star Tickets
* Book Vending Machine Token
* Classroom celebrations
* All school celebrations
* Monthly Assemblies
* Sherman Pride Charms
